Responsibilities


The charge nurse serves as the clinical leader responsible for operations and management of the ICU unit. Assumes responsibility for shift operations such as making appropriate assignments, coordinating care, resolving issues, functioning as the resource nurse, participating in staffing decisions, rounding on patients, and maintaining The Joint Commission (TJC) compliance.


Qualifications


Job Requirements:

  • Completion of education to obtain Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • RN with Texas Board of Nursing – OR – current home state license is required for multi-state license recognition through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Active BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) is required upon hire.
  • Active ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification through AHA is required upon hire.
  • Active PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification is required upon hire.
  • 1+ years of experience in an ICU hospital setting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information

Job Requirements Preferred:

  • Experience with patient safety best practices.
  • 1+ years of experience as a charge or relief charge nurse
