Director of Nursing Clinical Director DON RN or LPN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for managing, directing and supervising nursing services
Define and maintain the standards of nursing practice within the facility
Assess the quality of care rendered
Help with development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services and other services under his or her position control
Help in verifying employee credentials under his or her position control
Responsible for staff performance, staff recruitment, staff retention and staff development
Responsible for collaborating with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development
Plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the infection prevention and control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards
guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs
Evaluate the quality and cost-effectiveness of staffing and services within the goals of the facility
Serve as spokesperson for nursing matters and represents the facility with professional nursing and related organizations
Participate in appropriate meetings and committees
Promote positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests
Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
Use appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all times
Understand and adhere to the guidelines of “Residents Rights” and assure resident safety
