Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Overview

The primary purpose of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors.

 

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Duties

Resident centered care oriented including assistance with activities of daily living such as:

  • Positioning, Moving, and Restorative Care.

  • Mobility, Toileting, and Bathing.

  • Grooming: Oral, Shaving and Nail Care.

  • Dining Assistance.

  • Dressing and Undressing.

  • Infection control and prevention.

  • Nutrition and Elimination.

  • Comfort care and End of Life Care.

  • Answer call lights timely and promptly.

  • Report all changes in the resident's condition to your assigned nurse as soon as possible.

  • Report all accidents and incidents you observe on the shift when they occur.

  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.

  • Be a team player working in coordination with all disciplines in the facility.

Details of the Position Assists in providing direct patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse within the scope of the CNA licensure. Perform basic technical skills which may include, CPR; taking and recording vital signs; measuring and recording fluid intake/output; applying dressings; recognizing and reporting signs and symptoms of common diseases or conditions; administering treatments as directed by a physician or nurse. Assists patient with personal care which may include bathing; mouth and skin care; grooming and dressing; toileting assistance; eating and hydration. Provides patients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed. Maintains unit supplies by stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet patient care needs.
