The position available is full time. The ideal candidate has must be forward thinking with a dedication to excellence. Each critical care unit is between 10 and 16 beds with a total of 3 intensivists per unit staffing model.

Description The University of Washington (UW) is recruiting for two (2) full-time (1.0 FTE) Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at the rank of Teaching Associate in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine. Patient care efforts will occur at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), Montlake campus. The selected candidates will provide inpatient care as part of the intensive care unit (ICU) services team at UWMC under the supervision of the Medical Director of the Medical, Surgical, and Oncology Bone Marrow Transplant ICUs. The APP is a member of the inter-professional pulmonary and critical care team that includes attending physicians, pulmonary and critical care trainees, multidisciplinary specialists (social workers, dieticians, pharmacists, psychiatrists), other physician assistants and nurse practitioners providing inpatient critical care at UWMC Montlake. The successful applicant will provide care independently and collaboratively with other team members. Duties will include rounding daily with the critical care team, writing daily notes, coordinating the care of patients with the service attending physician and fellow, and participating in teaching opportunities in the clinical setting. Faculty members are encouraged to provide input at regularly held section meetings to address clinical issues and to help ensure the efficient deployment of team resources. As a member of the inpatient care team, the APP will need to provide coverage on weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care. Teaching associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1–June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July–June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date of this position is November 2025 or later. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching and service.
