Job Details Job Location : Maryville, IL Position Type : Full Time (80 Hours) Salary Range : $30.00 - $53.70 Hourly Job Shift : Days Job Category : Nurse Description Job Summary: Responsible for the interview and assessment preoperatively for the surgical patient. Responsible for the screening process of scheduled surgical patients. Responsible to obtain testing information from primary physician and past medical visits as needed. Job Responsibilities : 1 Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical and religious diversity 2. Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate and efficient manner to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. 3. Assesses patient and family learning needs and provides ongoing education and evaluation. Documents readiness to learn, teaching barriers and outcomes. 4. Completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner, according to hospital policies and procedures 5. Effectively utilizes the nursing process to ensure optimal nursing care and patient outcomes. Assessment/Reassessment Nursing Diagnosis/Goal Setting/Plan Implementation Evaluation 6. Engages in activities to expand and/or enhance the professional nursing role, which includes integration of research and evidence based practice. Seeks continuing education opportunities Supports professional Nursing organizations Utilizes evidence-based practice Supports and utilizes research in practice Supports committee/council involvement 7. Provides leadership and autonomy in the professional practice setting and the profession. Assists with the orientation of new employees Precepts student nurses Delegates appropriately Self-manages time and responsibilities 8. Acts in accordance with hospital policies and Code of Excellence and Code of Conduct. 9. Completes screening telephone calls on scheduled surgical patients 10. Orders lab work appropriately 11. Initiates appropriate orders. 12. Accurately completes the PAT/Preop Checklist 13. Is able to prioritize telephone calls based on date and urgency of lab work completion. 14. Reports patient concerns to Preanesthesia Testing Nurse Liaison and anesthesiologist. 15. Independently follows up on appropriate needs for patients. 16. Flexible to assist and relieve nurses in all areas of PACU department as directed by Manager during high census times, or to cover vacations. 17. Follow Anderson Hospital dress code for nursing staff. 18. Keep up on all Health-stream assignments and department competencies Qualifications Education Requirements and Other Requirements: Education Level: Graduate of an accredited nursing program Certification/Licensure: Illinois licensed or eligible. CPR certification required ACLS provider status preferred PALS provider status preferred Experience Requirements: Minimum one year of PACU experience preferred Critical care experience preferred
