The Opportunity
We’re seeking qualified Medical Assistants and EMT-Bs to join our growing clinic team as Limited X-ray Operator trainees! This opportunity is perfect for those who are looking to take their skills to the next level (and get paid to do it!)!
ConvenientMD (CMD) is now offering an exciting apprenticeship program for motivated Medical Assistants and EMT-Bs. Qualified candidates will be paid to train to become Limited X-ray Machine Operators (LXMO). Once certified as an LXMO, you will play a pivotal role in the clinic’s diagnostic process by capturing high-quality radiographic images that aid CMD providers in accurately assessing and diagnosing the medical conditions of our patients.
Operating X-ray equipment with precision, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, the LXMO collaborates closely with other members of the clinic team to streamline diagnostic processes.

The Program
- Accepted applicants will be responsible for completing 6 months of training prior to gaining their certification.
- During this time, you will complete self-guided online courses in tandem with full-time clinical apprenticeship hours completed at a CMD clinic.
- You will also get the opportunity to attend monthly skill days and enjoy the support of our highly trained rad tech preceptors.
- Once you’re certified, you will be required to stay at CMD for 1-year or pay back the cost of the program.
- 2 training days, 3- in-clinic training dates
Your Impact
- Limited X-Ray TechnicianSupport: Provide limited x-ray tech support in addition to MA duties as outlined by CMD.
- Prepare and perform radiologic procedures following CMD and ARRT protocols and procedures, working within the scope of practice of the LXMO license, utilizing all radiation protection and shielding equipment following ALARA principles.
- Navigate PACS system: confirm studies for interpretation, send studies to outside facilities, communicate with radiologists, and clarify discrepancies with teleradiology.
- Telephone communication including verification and clarification of outside radiology orders and requests for copies of radiographs taken at CMD.
- Ensureoperation of clinical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; calling for repairs or reporting repair needs to clinic Practice Manager.
- Medical Assistant Responsibilities:Efficiently switch between LXMO and MA responsibilities.
- Patient triage, including vital signs, medical history, and observational examination.
- Assist with any and all patient exams, testing, and procedures under the direction of the Provider.
- Perform blood draw/phlebotomy.
- Administration of medication and immunizations as outlined by the CMD Medical Assistant scope of practice.
- Patient Interaction:
- Assist with patient call backs to include, but not limited to, answering of patient questions within scope, reporting test results, medication/therapy changes.
- Quality Assurance & Inventory Tracking:
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Assists in maintaining adequate clinical supplies inventory by checking and notating when stock levels are low.
- Team Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with Providers and other members of the clinic team to ensure a positive patient experience and supportive work environment.
Who You Are
- Education & Licensure:
- High school diploma required.
- Medical Assisting certification with at least one (1) year of experience or two (2) years of experience working as a Medical Assistant.

Required Availability
- This is a full-time role. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts in consecutive and or non-consecutive days. Must be able to work three (3) 12-hour shifts a week with at least four (4) shifts a month on a Saturday or Sunday.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays.
- If needed, must be able to work at a minimum of three (3) other ConvenientMD locations within a one (1) hour travel distance from your primary clinic.
- Required to travel for training shifts which will occur outside of your primary clinic within a one (1) hour commute.
