Description
JOB SUMMARY:
To act as patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through collaboration with other members of the health care team at the facility. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the facility. The multidisciplinary nurse will ensure quality care to the individual patients including, but not limited to geriatric, adult, pediatric and adolescent patients. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the multidisciplinary nurse will ensure quality care to the individual patients that enter into the facility.
Reports To: Director of Nursing Services
Classification: Non-Exempt
Status: PRN
Schedule: Days, Nights, variable weekends and holidays
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Wyoming
• BLS required.
• ACLS & PALS certification upon hire or must obtain within 6 months
• Demonstrates ability to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day
• Demonstrates ability to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis
• Demonstrates ability to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis
• Demonstrates cooperative work attitude toward and with co-employees, management, patients, visitors and physicians.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE:
Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining a minimum of one of the following areas of competency:
- Surgical/GI preop, surgical/GI pacu, surgical/GI circulating, med floor nursing, scrub nursing, PAT.
- Secondary, tertiary and beyond areas of competency are highly encouraged.
RESPONSIBILITIES: General
- Is knowledgeable about and responsive to emergency situations, i.e. cardiac arrest, malignant hyperthermia, drug reaction, fire, disaster etc.
- Reports and completes appropriate forms for incidents related to patients, visitors, and employees.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and staff development programs, including mandatory ones.
- Participates in CQI process and activities.
- Assists with all other duties as the need arises or as assigned.
- Sets priorities to facilitate the timely and efficient flow of patients throughout the day.
- Prepares and restocks the area for the following day.
- Manage assigned area both operationally and fiscally during tour of duty.
- Act as a resource for other personnel using current literature and guidelines, organizational policies and procedures, and regulatory and accreditation standards as able.
- Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the multidisciplinary team and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and manage change within the assigned area.
- Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning patient care.
- Use effective conflict resolution techniques.
- Collect and analyze data applicable to assigned area to facilitate collaboration and negotiation with stakeholders.
- Communicates competently the needs of the patient for quality care.
- Other duties as assigned.
