- Full-Time 36 hours/week – DAY or NIGHT shift; 6-6:30 (3 shifts/week), every other weekend required, holiday rotation
Hospital Details Summa Rehabilitation Hospital, located in Akron, OH, is a 60 bed inpatient rehab facility providing inpatient rehabilitative services to people recovering from disabilities caused by injuries or illnesses. We help our patients regain their physical or cognitive abilities so they can return home at their highest level of independence. As a smaller, specialized hospital, we offer an opportunity to work in a fast-paced and friendly work environment where you really get to know your patients and their families.
Responsibilities Position Summary:
The Nurse Tech is responsible for assisting patients with personal hygiene and the activities of daily living. Provides assistance to licensed nursing personnel in the provision of patient care by providing and documenting activities of daily living; and providing a clean, healthy and safe environment. Utilizes basic infection control procedures, basic nutrition and fluid intake skills. Recognizes emergency situations and responds.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current BLS, Heart Saver or CPR certification from a Summa Rehab Hospital-approved vendor prior to the completion of the introductory period required.
Additional Qualifications/Skills:
Current, valid, and active certification to practice as a Nursing Assistant/Nursing Aide in the state of employment preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Multi-Skilled Technician (MST), Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) certification or currently enrolled in a Nursing program with at least one clinical rotation preferred.
Acute care/LTAC experience preferred.
Ability to project a professional image.
Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills.
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
