The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) collaborates with and provides a second level of leadership for the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure the monitoring and assessment of facility-wide patient nursing care. The ACNO collaborates with the CNO to ensure that clinical nursing practice is based on established procedures and ensures the highest possible quality of patient care. The ACNO acts as the hospital’s senior Nursing official in the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer.
Responsible for directing, guiding, monitoring and evaluating the delivery of nursing care at the facility under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer. Responsible for staffing, and coordination of pharmacy, laboratory, special procedures, and nutrition by direction of the Chief Nursing Officer. Provides coverage as a nursing supervisor or staff nurse as assigned.
Consults with the Chief Nursing Officer, staff, physicians, and other members of clinical administration on nursing problems and interpretation of facility policies to ensure that patient’s needs are met. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department(s) and participates in hospital wide PI initiatives. Responsible for mentoring RNs, LPNs, MHTs and other clinical staff as needed. Provides coverage as a nursing supervisor of staff nurse as assigned.
Responsible for coordination of functions related to infection control and employee health.
Education/Licensure: Graduate from an accredited program in nursing. Bachelor’s required. Master’s Level preferred. Registered Nurse in State of Indiana.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years clinical experience preferred in a psychiatric or mental health setting, with at least two (2) years direct experience in management, leadership, staff education, and nursing practices preferred.
Additional Requirements:Completion of training in Handle with Care and CPR within 30 days of employment. May be required to work occasional weekends and/or other hours. Participate in on-call rotation.
