Develops and provides lactation services program development and provides direct patient care.
Reports to: Director - Women's Services
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in health related field - Required. Related experience can substituted for education requirement. Additional coursework in prenatal education or certification as a Childbirth Educator preferred.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:
BLS certification from approved American Heart Association training center required to be current upon hire. NRP certification from approved American Heart Association training center must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
Minimum Work Experience
Experience with inpatient lactation programs and/or knowledge of the types of clinical breastfeeding issues seen during the early postpartum days - Required.
Required Licenses
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) - Required
State of Tennessee or Multi-State RN licensure - Preferred
