The Johns Hopkins Hospital- Meyer 3 Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and Psychiatric Emergency Department is a 22 bed adult psychiatric acute care inpatient unit for patients with a variety of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other severe mental illnesses, including addictions. Many of our patients come from this community, and most are admitted through the psychiatry emergency department. You would also staff the psych ED and would be oriented to that clinical setting after about a year of progressive leadership in the inpatient setting. Our patients with addictions are often discharged to the Broadway Center for further addictions treatment, and general psychiatric patients are referred to community psychiatry settings for their aftercare. You would provide evaluation, assessment and treatment of this broad range of disorders, including leading therapeutic groups.
