Job Summary

The Surgical Technician functions in a scrub role for operative and other invasive procedures including establishing and maintaining a sterile field, specimen handling, counts, medications/solutions, implants and instrument processing and may assist with circulating duties, as well as, participate in activities related to standards and quality improvement for the specialty and the department.

Required Qualifications

- Require graduate of an accredited surgical technology program; or five (5) years experience in a military hospital scrub role; or completion of a hospital-based training program with five (5) years of experience in a scrub role.
- Require proficiency in one-on-one demonstration of sterile technique.
- Require proficiency in selected specialty and competent in two (2) or more specialties.
- Require national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) within one (1) year. Current LPN licensure is acceptable in lieu of CST certification.

Required License and Certs

BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
