Responsibilities
Essential duties and Responsibilities
- Performs peripheral blood draws and discontinues INTs.
- Escorts patients to exam rooms, completes vital signs and records data. Alerts nursing staff of abnormal
- observations. Assists in data collection according to established protocol, ensuring that documentation clearly and concisely reflects the necessary components of the patient encounter.
- Accurately identifies, verifies and enters pertinent demographic information, vitals, and comments into EMR system at all points of patient contact. Checks patients in and out, releases orders, verifies insurance, collects copays, and balances day end account.
- Provides safe patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse, and as defined by the Role Responsibility Grids. Regularly communicates necessary information to the RN and seeks guidance as needed.
- Assembles all needed equipment and supplies to provide quality patient care. Prepares and maintains supplies in patient and waiting rooms. Assists with prompt repair/replacement of non-functional devices as needed.
- Orders patient care supplies.
- Schedules patient visit and provides treatment and visit calendars. Provides reminder phone calls and assists patient with "My Chart" enrollment at discharge.
- Answers telephone calls, obtains necessary information, and refers calls appropriately to ensure efficient
- operations.
- Review nursing and documentation and enters charges into billing and productivity system.
- Serves as the department / service line time keeper.
- Provides administrative support, including scheduling staff meetings and physician on call and administrative schedules.
Certification/Licensure
Education and Experience
Completion of a CNA program.
Certifications/Licensure
Current CNA certification in applicable state.
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification preferred
