Med Surg - General/Bariatric Surgery/Trauma
Metabolic/Bariatric Surgery Department (11NE) is a comprehensive evidence-based service provided on a 24-hour, 7 day a week basis. The department is a 16-bed surgical unit designed to provide skilled care to the acutely ill, age 16 or older, and to provide excellence in care for comprehensive metabolic bariatric surgery patients. The primary focus is to provide a therapeutic healing environment to patients requiring post-operative nursing and medical treatment. The acuity of patients includes a diverse variety of diagnosis from emergency and planned surgery of the acutely ill and patient’s recovery from bariatric surgery. All nursing staff has completed all required core training to care for these patients. CANMs and experienced RNs on the unit have completed a bariatric resource curriculum to competently care for the bariatric population on a limited level II care profile. The 11LP staff collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team including social work, case management, physical & occupational therapist, respiratory therapist, dietician, spiritual care, wound, ostomy and continence management, home health and pharmacist to meet the needs of this population.
The Registered Nurse administers patient care in an area in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, a medical condition, or post intervention with assessment.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department.
Licensure/Certification
- Maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
- Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP required for Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU).
