Unit Description: The CNAs in this 48-bed unit serve the general medical patient population. This floor is the primary admitting area for specialty medical services of Pulmonary Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Our patient care team uses a family-centered approach to identifying patient needs and developing care management plans. The acute General Medicine and Pulmonary unit utilizes a patient and family-centered, interprofessional approach to provide compassionate and high-quality care for children of all ages with a range of complex illnesses and diseases. Unit resources: Nursing Professional Development Practitioner, Nursing Professional Development Practitioner Associate, Preceptors, Clinical Managers, Clinical Quality Coordinator RN, and Nursing Director Job Summary: The Nursing Assistant (NA) works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide care for patients/families with acute and chronic diseases, disorders found in the pediatric and adolescent into the young adult populations. Actively supports the Hospital’s and the department’s quality goals and service excellence principles. Job Responsibilities- (Assists with the following tasks under the direction of an RN.) Direct patient care- Orienting families to the clinic area Vital signs measurement per department standard Point of care testing PO feeding & Bulb suctioning Assisting with procedures Assisting with intra hospital transport Providing comfort measures 1:1 Patient Supervision Stocking and maintenance: Emptying fluid collection containers Clean rooms after discharge Assisting with sending labs Keeping unit orderly Cleaning equipment and toys Clerical Duties: Documentation of patient data on paper record or in EMR Education and Experience: High school diploma/GED Certified as a Nurse Assistant in IL, active and in good standing. One year of CNA experience, pediatric and hospital experience strongly preferred. Bilingual ability preferred. Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
