- Perform all dialysis and pheresis therapies to patients admitted to the hospital according to procedures/protocols/guidelines. The procedures include, but not limited to hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, peritoneal dialysis, and pheresis (aquapheresis, lipopheresis and plasmapheresis).
- Performs nursing assessments utilizing a variety of assessment methods and/or area-specific tools.
- Anticipates impending clinical changes during the procedures and intervene effectively.
- Serves as the clinical resource and expert for all dialysis and pheresis therapies throughout the hospital. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to develop educational resources and courses.
- Communicate and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team for scheduling and performing dialysis procedures.
- Incorporates current hospital and departmental quality initiatives into daily activities.
- Develops and provides dialysis and pheresis patient education relative to the family needs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher required. For positions that are identified as difficult to fill, CNO may allow approval for hiring of candidates with Associates degree in nursing with equivalent experience in lieu of BSN or above.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois.
- 3 years of nursing experience, preferably dialysis or critical care nursing experience
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians and hospital staff.
- Special certifications may be required by the department.
