Job Summary:
Triage OB/GYN patients via phone; call patients with test results. Primarily responsible for handling incoming clinically-related calls to ensure that patient needs are met. Ensure smooth and efficient telephone communication by using proper telephone etiquette. Handle telephone calls appropriately, in a timely manner and offer assistance and reassurance to the caller. Performs general nursing care to patients (including phone and in-person triage), administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
Essential Functions:
Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider; answering questions. Instructs patients and family members regarding medications, test results and treatment instructions. Authorize drug refills as directed. Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to the physician.
Accurately and legibly document concise, pertinent information (i.e. telephone message, EHR, etc.). Ensure patient care paperwork is processed and forwarded in a timely manner. Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint. Measure, record and document vital signs. Maintains patient recall lists. Formulates and updates patient care plans, and orders, prepares, and inspects patient charts, records test and examination results in the patient chart.
Work cooperatively with team members in order to accomplish work effectively and efficiently; help create and maintain good working relationships; provide assistance and back-up with direct patient care as needed. Prepare patients for examination and assists physician during treatment/procedures, examinations and testing of patients. Prepares examination rooms, including restocking of supplies in treatment areas. Where applicable, perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a provider. Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures.

Attends required meetings and participates in team activities and professional development activities.
Represents practice in a professional manner. Treats all patients, customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.

Experience:
One year of previous experience in a physician’s office or ambulatory care setting (required)
Experience in OBGYN specialty and/or telephone triage
Two or more years of clinical experience preferred
EPIC electronic medical records experience helpful
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work
Ability to communicate with coworkers, provider and patients in an effective manner.
Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical record system.
Ability to maintain LPN license by successfully completing 24 hours of continuing education hours every two years.
