POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Nurse Assistant may give patient care. They may perform selected nursing procedures as defined in the Patient Care Standards Manual. The Nurse Assistant transports non-controlled medications to and from pharmacy. Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Assistant provides a support function to the nurse by coordinating special tasks and assisting where needed. The Nurse Assistant collaborates with other members of the patient care team to provide care in accordance with the medical plan of care. 

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

Students in a Registered Nurse or LVN Program who have completed at least one clinical semester

(At the discretion of management, employees who do not initially pass the NCLEX may be transferred to a Nurse Assistant position until they pass the exam. The employee must take the exam again at the next scheduled date Continuation in the Nurse Assistant position after a second unsuccessful exam completion will be at the discretion of management.)

Must demonstrate technical competence, communication skills and sensitivity for the hospitalized patient and family. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
