A Little More About What You Will be Doing

The LVN supports the physician and nursing staff in the delivery of health care by performing patient care assessments, and a variety of medically related tasks. The LVN is a licensed nurse who works in an ambulatory care setting to provide nursing services.

Job duties and responsibilities:

Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs
Performs initial nursing intake and prepares patients for examination
Prepares patients for examination by reviewing current medications and reviewing documents in medical record
Prepares medical chart and records patient information needed to support the reason for visit such as vital signs and reason for visit
Provides basic patient care and treatments such as taking vitals, performing diagnostic tests, phlebotomy, and specimen collection directed by the provider
Observes patient, documents, and reports any changes in condition to the provider for instructions in taking necessary actions for care
Serves as a patient advocate and uses appropriate resources to support patient care

Qualifications

Education:

Completion of an accredited Vocational Nurse program

License/Certifications:

Valid CA LVN license required
BLS from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross required
IV/BW (intravenous/blood withdrawal) certification, must obtain within one year from hire date
