Job Summary and Responsibilities

As the Charge Nurse / Team Leader for Cardiac Catheterization Services you will be  accountable for coordinating and overseeing daily unit operations and patient flow during assigned shifts. This role ensures efficient, high-quality patient care delivery through effective staff management, resource coordination, and proactive problem-solving.

  • Provides effective,comprehensive evidence based nursing care to achieve desired health outcomes. Organizes and
    prioritizes patient care activities balanced with the needs and comfort of the patient. Collaborates with other disciplines to
    insure comprehensive, holistic and effective plan of care. Applies knowledge of current practice standards, guidelines,
    statutes, rules and regulations. Demonstrates accountability for own ethical behavior and supports ethical practice by
    addressing or escalating issues. Serves as a patient advocate.
  • Completes patient assessments competently. Assesses for and identifies needs of unit-specific patient
    population: Assesses for and identifies any physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, discharge and
    cultural needs.
  • Completes an individualized plan of care based on assessment of the patient. Coordinates with other
    disciplines when indicated. Prioritizes care needs and sets measurable goals and time frames. Includes patient and
    family in the planning.
  •  Implements interventions based on nursing and medical plan of care. Manages patient population,
    diagnosis and age specific needs through appropriate adaptation of interventions. Appropriately utilizes equipment and
    supplies (including following established policies, procedures and protocols governing the transport, handling and storage
    of intravenous fluids).
  • After implementation, reassesses the patient to verify effectiveness of interventions. Updates the plan of
    care to reflect current care needs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize and adapt to changes in patients condition (i.e.. LOC change, vital signs, test
    results)in a timely and clinically appropriate manner.
  • Uses SBAR to notify physicians and other providers of clinical findings. Follow policies and procedures for contacting
    physician regarding critical values. Uses appropriate resources and follows chain of command. Recognizes limits of
    scope of practice.
  • Seeks multidisciplinary collaboration. Integrates & interprets multiple sources of data to make appropriate clinical
    decisions based on patient needs & desired outcomes.
  • Assesses situations and seeks critical information to make decisions. Implements solutions while reviewing and
    monitoring effects. Re-evaluates decisions and makes corrective actions when indicated.
  • Makes decisions based on evidence based research. Assumes accountability for decisions made.
  • Delegates tasks based on the needs & stability of the patient, complexity of the task, outcome predictability and skill level
    & scope of practice of the staff.
  • Delegates tasks but not responsibility and accountability for completion. Verifies that delegated work is completed.
  • Holds self and others accountable. Uses team skills effectively

Job Requirements
  • 1 year of acute care experience required.
  • Current California license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimal education as required for licensure.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association BCLS/ACLS, basic EKG certification required.
  • CT STROKE (NIHSS) within 90 days of hire.
