• JOB TITLE: Director of Nursing

    REPORTS TO: Administrator/ Corporate Team

    TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUBORDINATES: Charge Nurse RN/LPN/C.N.A

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The primary purpose of your job position is to supervisor the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during your tour of duty -overseeing of the facility's operations and management including providing optimal care, communicating the facility's policies and ensuring the general order, safety and cleanliness of the facility. Follows all health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintains established standards of practice set forth by the facility's administration and Nursing policies and procedures. Such supervision must be in according with current federal, state and local guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

    Education: Must possess, as a minimum, an associates Nursing Degree from accredited college or university.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    q Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions.

    q Interest in the needs of the aged and the chronically ill with the ability to work with both.

    q Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position/assignments.

    q Registered Nurse licensed in the State of employment. Minimum of one year of education or experience in geriatric nursing or rehabilitation preferred.

    q Knowledge of nursing theory and practice including the administration of medications.

    q CPR certified.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in an appropriately lighted and ventilated environment. This position may result in your being exposed to blood/body fluids.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    q Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day, proper body mechanics required—bending, stooping, turning, stretching, reaching above the shoulders and occasional lifting are involved.

    q Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional and physical stress of the position.

    q Must be able to observe, listen and communicate effectively.

    q Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, support agencies, and outside agencies.

    q Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.

    q Must be able to transfer and pivot residents.

    q Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum of 50 feet.

    DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Supervising all nursing staff

  • Overseeing department budgets

  • Reporting to higher management in the healthcare facilities

  • Maintaining high standards of care for all patients

  • Managing patients’ data and medical records as confidential records

  • Communicating with doctors, patients and family members about patient health

  • Recruiting, training and onboarding new nursing staff

  • Providing ongoing education classes

  • Implementing new procedures and training Nurses on policies
