Position Summary

The Clinical Education Manager (CEM) is a field-based educator and documentation coach responsible for delivering wound care training, documentation accuracy coaching, and regulatory education to Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and agency partners. This position supports CMS and state-specific documentation standards and plays a vital role in audit readiness and clinical compliance.

 

This is a mobile role that requires frequent travel. While there is flexibility in managing schedules, business needs may require coordinated travel routes and timing to meet partner expectations, compliance audits, and documentation priorities.

 

Key Responsibilities

Wound Care Education & Regulatory Support

  • Deliver wound care education that aligns with CMS guidelines and state-specific clinical regulations for SNFs and agency partners.

  • Create and adapt educational content, presentation materials, documentation guides, and competency tools to meet the needs of clinical personnel with varied levels of wound care knowledge.

  • Facilitate interactive training sessions both on-site and virtually, including skills labs, mock audits, and in-service reviews.

  • Ensure accurate, timely documentation through education on narrative elements, measurement consistency, staging, and photography standards.

  • Serve as a clinical knowledge resource for interpretation of documentation requirements, regulatory changes, and payer compliance.

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations concerning the handling, access, and protection of patient health information (PHI) during training, audits, and documentation activities.

 

Field Training & Documentation Audits

  • Conduct regular on-site and remote documentation reviews, analyzing documentation trends, identifying gaps, and providing targeted coaching to improve compliance.

  • Evaluate facility documentation in Preliminary Wound Reports, Skin Sweeps, and GT Sweeps to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and internal quality benchmarks.

  • Participate in and guide remediation planning following internal or external audits, including state survey deficiencies or partner-initiated reviews.

  • Submit summaries and findings to internal leadership with suggested corrective actions and educational follow-ups.

 

Relationship Management & Collaboration

  • Act as the primary education liaison between OWP and SNF/agency leadership teams, including Directors of Nursing, wound care nurses, and facility administrators.

  • Build trust and maintain open communication to support partner success, continuity of service, and education responsiveness.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, compliance, QA teams) to relay field insights, flag recurring issues, and contribute to the evolution of training strategies.

  • Provide final-stage onboarding training related to wound documentation for new providers joining the OWP network.

 
Minimum Education and Required Qualifications

A diploma or associate degree from a state-approved and accredited practical/vocational nursing program (LVN/LPN) is required for this role. While a bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare education, or a related field is not required, it may be considered a plus.

 

Candidates must possess the clinical, educational, and regulatory knowledge necessary to effectively support patient care documentation, deliver compliance-focused training, and lead field-based clinical education efforts. Continuing education or certifications in wound care and regulatory compliance are encouraged to support long-term success and professional development within the organization.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted LVN or LPN license (Texas strongly preferred)

  • Minimum 3 years of wound care experience in SNF, LTC, or post-acute settings

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in clinical education, training, or documentation support

  • Proficiency in EMR systems, audit/reporting platforms, and Google Workspace

  • Ability to type 45–60 WPM and navigate mobile documentation tools

  • Valid driver’s license in the state of residence

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across assigned markets

  • Will be required to perform other duties as assigned that are reasonable and relevant to the role and business operations

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Wound care certification (e.g., WCC, WOCN, CWS)

  • Experience with SNF operations, CMS/state survey preparation, or QAPI

  • Experience in multi-site or multi-state training delivery

 

Technical & Physical Requirements

  • Proficient with smartphone, laptop, email, and virtual conferencing platforms

  • Must be able to work in electronic medical record (EMR) systems

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move frequently, including climbing stairs, entering and exiting buildings, and transitioning between care settings multiple times per day

Travel and scheduling may be coordinated based on business needs, clinical priorities, and geographic optimization.

 

This role involves regular movement through diverse care environments. Team members must be able to safely and efficiently navigate between patient rooms, administrative areas, and facility grounds while maintaining professionalism and awareness of surroundings.
