🏥 About the Fellowship

This is a paid fellowship track designed to prepare RNs with 1 year plus of Medical/Surgical or Step Down experience for a successful transition into the Emergency Department (ED). The track includes:

🧠 Didactic Training

  • Classroom sessions led by experienced ED educators and Emergency Department ED Orientation Modules from ENA via Learning Space
  • Curriculum covering:
    • Emergency nursing principles and best practices
    • Management of trauma, cardiac, neurological, and pediatric emergencies
    • Advanced life support protocols (ACLS, PALS, TNCC)
    • Crisis resource management and team communication
    • Documentation standards in emergency care
  • Competency assessments to ensure clinical readiness

👐 Hands-On Clinical Training

  • Rotations through high-acuity ED zones including trauma bays, fast-track, and critical care pods
  • Simulation-based training for emergency scenarios, rapid response, and triage decision-making
  • IV insertion, airway management, trauma & wound care, and emergency medication administration
  • Direct mentorship and preceptorship from seasoned ED nurses
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other emergency care professionals

Upon completion, fellows will be equipped to function independently in all areas of the ED.

Note: This opportunity is only open to experienced RNs. New graduates will not be considered.

✅ Qualifications
  • BSN preferred (or commitment to obtain within 3 years)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Med/Surg or Stepdown units
  • Strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and self-motivation
  • Flexibility to manage a high volume of patients in a Level I Trauma Center
📋 Certifications
  • BLS – Required
  • ACLS – Will obtain during orientation
