GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 

Enjoy excellent pay and benefits and a team environment!  The Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) is looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as our Director of Nursing.

This position is responsible for the oversight and delivery of nursing services to residents in our Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) settings.

  • Define and maintain the standards of nursing practices and the provisions of quality nursing care on a 24-hour basis to WLRC residents in accordance with all applicable standards and regulations.
  • Participate as a member of the administrative team.  Participate in organizational leadership and the development and achievement of facility plans and missions.
  • Direct, instruct, counsel and supervise staff toward meeting department, division, and facility goals.
  • Collaborate with other departments, medical professionals, and consultants to develop, support, and coordinate resident care.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources Department to enhance staff recruitment, retention, and staff development.
  • Direct and review the continuous quality improvement processes within the nursing department.
  • Plan, develop, and implement a department budget.
  • Represent the nursing department at required meetings and delegate representation as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule.


KNOWLEDGE: 

  • Knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing principles and mental health concepts, with advanced knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of person's served care and treatment.
  • Knowledge of state and federal ICF and SNF regulations, including survey processes.
  • Knowledge of facility and departmental policies, mission, vision, and guiding principles and knowledge of continuous quality improvement, medication review, and infection control methods and requirements.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required classes and perform CPR, Crisis Management, First Aid, Fire Safety, Disaster Preparedness, and Defensive Driving.
  • Ability to comprehend emergency procedures for life safety, including response to fire and evacuation, procedures for hazardous materials, water spills, exposures, and procedures for medical equipment disruptions and/or failures.
  • Skills in leadership, organizational planning, and management.
  • Skills in interpersonal relations.
  • Skills in budget planning.
  • Ability to efficiently use computers and multiple software applications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of nursing practice from regulatory as well as practical standpoints.
  • Ability to grasp nuances of complex issues of practice, education, and legislation.
  • Skills in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication at an excellent level.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education:
Master's Degree in Nursing
Experience:
Five (5) years of professional RN or APRN experience within the last seven (7) years, including at least two (2) years in nursing administration or education.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming


PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Ability to bend, lift, twist, push, pull, etc. as would be expected to provide patient care and treatment in clinic and residential settings.
  • Ability to work with residents with aggressive and challenging behaviors and physically intervene during a behavioral crisis.
