Job Summary
Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Medicine and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and, Medical Staff Policies, and any unique to inpatient or ambulatory patient services (for those AHPs providing services both in the inpatient and ambulatory environments) this Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to Solid Tumor Medical Oncology, and specifically to the hospital-based oncology inpatient consult service. This APP position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their “scope of practice”.
This position will provide inpatient consultative care for adult patients with solid tumors at UCSF Health licensed settings, specifically at UCSF's Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights. Responsibilities include ordering chemotherapy for hospitalized patients with solid tumors and providing inpatient consultative care for patients with suspected or confirmed solid tumors.
The APP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and evidences self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within all UCSF medical center locations.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $100.48 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing recognized Nurse Practitioner Program with a master’s or doctoral degree aligned with the patient population and clinical role.
- Minimum of one (1 )year of recent medical oncology or malignant hematology Nurse Practitioner experience or completion of a one-year comprehensive oncology APP fellowship program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience as an advanced practice nurse in an inpatient or outpatient solid tumor medical oncology program
- Experience working with clinical trial protocols
- Experience working in an academic medical center
License/Certification
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.

- Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
- Complete Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
