Job Summary

Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Neurosurgery and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and, Medical Staff Policies, and any unique ambulatory patient services this Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to the Neurosurgery practice. This APP position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their “scope of practice”. In general, the “scope of practice” includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per approved standardized procedures as identified by the list available on the Medical Staff Office website. The CIDP approved standardized procedures are unique to each person and are unlikely to include ALL SPs on the list. This position may provide patient care in approved age groups and UCSF Health licensed settings. The APP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and evidences self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within the all UCSF medical center locations.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $95.73 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

NP I

Two to three (2-3) years of clinical inpatient or outpatient experience in Neurosurgery or Neurosciences as a RN or APP

NPII

Two (2) years of NP experience in a complex speciality including Neuro ICU

Preferred Qualifications

Inpatient or outpatient surgical experience.

License/Certification

California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
Accepted Certifications for this position: ACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC
Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
Complete a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
Current AHA BLS.
State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
