RN - Operating Room - Periop 101

Perioperative 101:

This is an AORN Periop 101 core Curriculum program which includes 24 hours per week of didactic and 16 hours per week of clinical for a minimum of 6 months, Total orientation is approximately 1 year. After orientation, there is a 2 year commitment.

This is a comprehensive program and all candidates will be trained to circulate and scrub all surgical cases. Periop 101 RNs will work 40 hours/week while in orientation, and can be a combination of 8 and 10 hour shifts, depending on training needs. After completion of the program, the Periop RN will work 4 10 hour shifts, with rotating start times between 7am and 9am as needed, with the expectation of fulfilling call coverage in both the circulate and scrub roles.

Milford Regional Medical Center is a full-service, community and regional teaching hospital, with 145 beds, providing acute-care serving a region of 20-plus towns. Our Perioperative function supports 8 operating rooms and approximately 7,000 cases annually. With over 300 primary care and specialty physicians on the medical staff, our physicians are skilled in the most advanced procedures and technology, and provide personalized patient care in a warm and caring environment.

Statement of Purpose:
The Registered Nurse maintains responsibility for the provision of professional nursing care demonstrated through the nursing process involving assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate a competent level of behavior in a professional role, including activities related to: promotion of quality of care, performance appraisal, education, collegiality, ethics, collaboration, research and resource utilization(Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice - ANA, 2010; Perianesthesia Nursing Standards and Practice Recommendations 2012-2014)

Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Certification / License: Current RN license in Massachusetts. Current CPR skills. AORN membership preferred.

Experience: Prior OR experience (Surgical Technologist) or Med/Surg Nursing experience strongly preferred.

MRMC Differentials:
Hospital differentials are: $3.50 hourly for evenings, $5.00 hourly for nights, and $2.75 hourly for weekends. All differentials are paid based per hospital policy.
