Our Cardiothoracic Surgery team is looking for a committed Registered Nurse (RN) Ambulatory Cardiothoracic Surgery Coordinator to join our collaborative team. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday during the day shift.

Position Overview:
As a vital member of our Cardiothoracic Surgery team, you will provide nursing, administrative, and functional support to the assigned program's staff. Your role may involve assisting with operational and business functions, managing projects, and acting as a liaison with other departments. As a clinical expert and consultant, your responsibilities will include planning, coordinating, integrating, educating, and continually evaluating the delivery of care to patients.

You will serve as a crucial link between patients, their families, referring physicians, the care team, and IU Health specialists, as well as community resources. Collaborating with patient navigators and key staff, you will develop specialized care plans and conduct multidisciplinary assessments. Your role ensures the delivery of evidence-based care in accordance with national and statewide clinical practice guidelines, facilitates appropriate access, leads performance improvement initiatives, assists in developing clinical pathways, and promotes cost-effective care while enhancing patient safety and overall satisfaction. You will also ensure that practice standards align with the guidelines established by the Service Line.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage referral processes, including STAT referrals and assessing referrals for clinical appropriateness, including ordering necessary imaging or testing.
Provide patient navigation, education, surgical follow-up, and incidental finding reporting.

Qualifications:

Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or valid Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license is required.
Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program is necessary.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.
Additional advanced life support certifications may be needed based on department specialty and patient care policies.
Specialty certification may be required.
