Reta Underwood, RAC-CT, C-NM, QCP, CPC will moderate a non-accredited course of reflection and relaxation to set the tone of self-care and motivation for the Intely@Sea cruise. The course will include 3 sessions.

Session 1

Session 1 is an Anishinaabe Morning Sunrise Ceremony titled, “Awaking Your Spirit Each Day,” a welcoming of a new day that greets and welcomes Grandfather Sun and honors the promise of the new beginning and the gifts afforded by the dawn of another day. This session will include:

  • Asemaa Offering
  • Nagamonon (Song)
  • Nibi Manidookewin (Water Ceremony)
  • Ode’imin Wiikondiwin (Berry Feast)

Session 2

Session 2 is on Ancient Teachings and will focus on how the sharing of knowledge about the three aspects of time and how each plays an important role in trauma, recovery, and life balance. The three aspects of time are as follows:

  • Nayaag (previous time; past)
  • Azhigwa (current time: present)
  • Waabang (tomorrow; future)

Session 3

Session 3 will be a Morning Ceremony with Talking Circle. This session is a repetition of the previous morning’s offerings and will conclude with a Traditional Talking Circle. Talking circles provide attendees with an opportunity to speak and be listened to in the most respectful setting. This sacred approach creates an atmosphere conducive to participation without anxiety or apprehension of sharing one’s thoughts and feelings, thus, establishing a base of personal healing rooted in knowing one’s perspective is highly valued by the community at large.
