Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (LMHPCO) Annual Conference

As you already know 2021 was quite a year; The Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (LMHPCO) Annual Conference returned to a live conference at the Higgins Hotel in New Orleans – in the midst of this pandemic – and they were able to do so without becoming a super spreader event thanks to careful planning and the hard work of the entire hotel staff. They plan to repeat that success in 2022 by returning to the
Higgins Hotel July 27-29, 2022.

We are learning every day in this pandemic new ways of caring for folks at the end of life, especially with issues related to emergency preparedness, mask and vaccine mandates, racial inequities and health disparities, telehealth visits, trauma informed care, opioids and pediatric concurrent care. This annual conference will again bring together providers and educators from across Mississippi and Louisiana especially as boosters, rapid testing kits and medications become part of our “new normal” in order to continue learning and better address care continuum issues along with standards and practice in this part of the country.

We hope you will consider joining us this summer in New Orleans to kickoff not only the 21st year of service for LMHPCO to hospice and palliative professionals, while enjoying he vibe and culture of New Orleans. Despite COVID waves and possible indoor masks mandates the food is always incredible and the hospitality memorable. We plan to again be health wise at the Higgins Hotel in 2022 and invite you to be part of our continuing efforts to improve our attendees skills in delivering palliative care and hospice services. This 2022 conference will bring together decision makers and influencers in palliative care and hospice who will once again take over the entire hotel to network in search of new ideas, services and products. This year’s theme, “Transcending Chaos & Healthcare: Recovery, Restoration and Renewal” has become our rallying cry in 2022 as providers figure out new ways to reintroduce quality care; this theme will also help us address critical core competencies in “this brave new world” of ours.

The Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (LMHPCO) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization. It’s mission is to improve the quality of hospice & palliative care for everyone in Louisiana & Mississippi, increase public awareness with regards to hospice and other end of life care; provide educational programs for members and the public concerning hospice and other end of life care; serve as an information network between and among hospice and other end of life care agencies in Louisiana and Mississippi, and link them to other such agencies and programs throughout the United States; sssist Louisiana and Mississippi hospice and other end of life care agencies and programs in their development and operation; provide technical and other advice and assistance to governmental agencies engaged in the supervision and regulation of hospice and other end of life care; and build coalitions for improving palliative services, hospice and end of life care.
