As you know, it’s critical to complete your continuing education requirements in order to practice as a licensed nursing professional. If you fail to do so, you won’t be employable. But how do you know which continuing education providers to turn to for this important component of your career? The articles in this section can help answer that question.

First, it’s important to know that continuing education goes by a formal name: nursing continuing professional development (NCPD). It’s also key to know that you can obtain NCPD contact hours in a variety of ways. We provide an overview of the types of NCPD that qualify toward your requirements, as well as the reason such rules and regulations exist in healthcare.

Second, you have to make sure you’re earning your NCPD from an approved continuing education provider. As mentioned, there are different ways to fulfill your requirements — from conferences to study packets — but you must earn them from an accredited body recognized by the Accredited Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
