Course Overview
What is innovation in nursing?
We have learned that nursing innovation is important and fundamental to ensure and develop quality of care, but what exactly are we referring to when we talk about nursing innovation?
Join Hiyam Nadel on board Intely@Sea as we define innovation and learn innovation methodology. Her course will specifically cover design thinking and human-centered design and will draw upon examples of how to elicit ideas from the frontlines. You may be surprised by what you learn as new and different models of care are showcased during this course!
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to discuss how nursing innovation can improve outcomes at the point of care.
Why do we need a course on innovation?
Nurses who practice at the point of care in today’s health care environment are experts in using critical thinking to create novel approaches to patient care. Knowing the needs for their patient populations, and working as part of a health care team, allows the nurse to think “outside of the box” to create a care plan that will best address the clinical problem that must be addressed.
Although nurses have long been innovative in their response to patient needs, it is only recently that they have been encouraged to think creatively to address challenges in practice in an effort to study and promote permanent changes in practice.
This course will provide the basic tools to help support interest and desire to work with multidisciplinary teams and non-clinical leaders in innovation to enhance practice that will improve patient and clinical experiences and outcomes.
